Snack Time

Each day we have snack around 10:10 and 2:15. During snack the kids work on using what I call "restaurant manners". We dine politely with one another having conversations with the kids at our tables. We also work on being independent and self sufficient with opening our containers and snacks. If a child has a package they need opened, he/she is encouraged to use the snack scissors. If they have a container to open, they are encouraged to give it a try before asking me for help. The same goes for juice boxes and closing zipper bags. Snack time is a wonderful time to help teach all of these independent skills.

Snack time is also a great time to practice following our routines. We line up to wash hands, grab our snacks, eat, clean-up, and read books or build puzzles until snack is over. Once snack has finished, we all meet at the mat for the learning we have ahead.
